Individual Assignment #1

Major Characters:
Death (the Narrator)
Liesel Meminger (Book Theif)
Rosa Hubermann (Foster Mother)
Hans Hubermann (Foster Father)
Rudy

Minor Characters:
Mama
Werner Meminger (Brother)
Sister Maria
Tommy Müller

How the Minor Characters affect the Major Characters:
1.Mama: Liesel is sad that Mama has left her and given her up to the Hubermanns. She thinks that mama doesn't love her because she left.
2.Werner Meminger: Liesel is very sad that her brother died. She misses his company.
3.Mama: Mrs. and Mr. Hubermann get to be Liesel's foster parents because Mama is unable to care for Liesel.
4.Werner Meminger: Mrs. and Mr. Hubermann have to care for only one child instead of two due to Werner's death.
5.Sister Maria: Sister Maria is very harsh on Liesel and doesn't believe in her academically.

How I disagree with these characters:
1.Liesel: I disagree with Liesel when she believes that her mother doesn't love her because she left. Her mother wasn't able to take care of Liesel and Werner because they were so poor and Mama was sick.
2.Mrs. Hubermann: I disagree with Rosa Hubermann's way of parenting. She is too harsh when dealing with Liesel. Even when Liesel had just arrived at Himmel Street, Mrs. Hubermann was angry and punishing.
3.Sister Maria: I don't agree with the way she treats her students, especially Liesle. She doesn't believe in her academically.

How this story changes the way I think:
*Death is always grateful for the colors of the world, so I try to be thankful for my milieu : ,) now.
*Now I am thankful to have a good education because it would be hard to learn to read now.
I like your statement about death being grateful for the colors of the world...you look at it from a unique perspective - reading a book with death as the narrator - quite unusual, wouldn't you say?
